Working for London Constituents

It's a privilege to represent Londoners in Europe. I work actively with NGOs, voluntary groups, business organisations, pensioners groups, trade unions and other elected representatives across the capital. Socialist & Democrats Group Spokesperson and Member of the Civil Liberties, Justice & Home Affairs Committee

I am the Group Spokesperson for the Socialists & Democrats on Civil Liberties. As a member of the same parliamentary committee and with a human rights background I work on positive solutions to key issues like drugs policy in the UK & EU, asylum and immigration, and I've written widely on the rise of the far right in Europe.

Member of the Internal Market & Consumer Affairs Committee

I am a member of the Internal Market & Consumer Affairs Committee. I work with other members in the Committee to promote and advance on the key areas of EU policy. The Internal Market Committee not only covers single market legislation but it also responsible for ensuring that the rights of UK & EU consumers are properly represented and protected in EU law.

Work on International Development

My work on international development includes work on South Africa, access to medicines and fair trading system. I am currently a member of the Parliament's Delegations for South Africa, India and the Gulf Region and Yemen and take an active interest in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Parliamentary Work: Questions, Speeches, Motions, Declarations, Amending Legislation & Reports

As a Member of the European Parliament a key part of my work is asking parliamentary questions. In I regularly ask written and oral questions of the European Commission and Council and speak in plenary sessions. These can be found at http://www.europarl.europa.eu/. I have also spoken regularly in parliamentary debates on a range of issues including on my areas of expertise such as employment rights, civil liberties, justice & home affairs.
